Hi,

I'm looking for a shifter for 69 Valiant with a 4 speed.

So far I have found 2:

https://hurstshiftersonline.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=59&idcategory=11

And an offer from http://www.brewersperformance.com/ for 783 dollars

The fist one is at better price but what is the difference ?

The main concern is that my Valiant has a bench seat at front and I like to keep it that way. The Hurst shifter seems to be with a straight handle, if this is the only problem I could modify it to fit (if necessary).

Has anyone used the Hurst super shifter with a bench car or can direct me to a better option at the same price.

If I looked at eBay on I found has this kind of handle:

I don't think a straight handle shifter will work with a bench seat if I remember correctly the bench seat shifters were bent forward then came back but if you can tell me how far it is from the front of your seat to the rear edge of the shifter hole I could check my car it has a super shifter in it for mock up

What you need is an Abody Hurst shifter. They show up here from time to time they are about $250 and you need a 4 spd hump also for the floor.

I have used the Hurst Street Super shifter and it is a great shifter that will take anything you can throw at it. I didn't use it in a bench seat car though. Just find this handle and put it on the SS shifter and you should be good to go.

Ok thank you for your response.

For me the cheapest and easiest way is to order the SS kit with the straight handle.
Then modify the handle (or find the real one) to be like amoparacer and BrianT posted images show.

As I undestand the shifter will work with the A body style handle also.
I thought it is on different angle and the shift rods are also different etc.

Kristjan.

As I understand the shifter will work with the A body style handle also.

I would have to see the A body shifter not just the handle, but I'm pretty sure the handle just bolts in with two bolts like every other Hurst shifter.

most factory if not all mopar hurst shifters use the stab in handle and the aftermarket shifters are bolt on handles

Not trying to argue, but every pistol grip Mopar Hurst shifter I have ever seen was bolt in. Also, even though it has a stab in handle, by the looks of it, this shifter could easily be converted to a bolt in stick by drilling a couple of holes that are clearly marked.

Well I can't say that all for sure are stab in but I have a 69' bee with factory
70' pistol grip ( not available until 1970) and its stab in and I have a 67' barracuda 4 speed with factory hurst that's stab in and both have mopar
Part numbers. The factory and aftermarket hurst shifter look the same but factory shifters have mopar part numbers. Just sayin
