400 into 73 v8 duster using stock mounts

I have the c body stock spool mounts. Do they work or what needs modified. Conversion mounts are expensive and I have the stock mounts. Car used to have a 340.
 
Nope.
Even the Schumacher swap mounts require some cutting and reworking of the K member mounts in order to work.

If that's too expensive for you, wait until you get a load of what you'll need to pay for headers... and oil pan... etc.
If you insist on making your own mounts, bolt it all together and lower it into the car, using the transmission mount to locate the engine/trans fore and aft. This will give you a fair idea of what you'll need to cut/move/weld/relocate/modify to make the motor mounts meet the K frame mounts and end up with the engine in the correct position.
The final location dimensions (borrowed from tti's website) are:

If it's not in the correct location, nothing else is going to fit right.
Even if it's perfect, chances are your BFH is going to get a good workout on other aspects.
 
@Jim Lusk may can help, but really you have the car the engine and mounts. You can probably tell quicker than anybody here. Seems like I have read before there is a certain combination of stock mounte that work, but I cannot be sure. Jim will know.
 
Yeah, the early C body driver's mount can be made to work on the '67-'72 K frames, but not aware of anything for the '73 and up cars that doesn't involve slicing and dicing.

The Driver's side frame spool mounting ears need cut & moved back ~1.13". The Passenger side can fit if You flip the spool bushing around in the eng. bracket, but the oval holes are larger on the flange end vs the straight end, so You'll need to carbide burr the oval 'til the larger press fit end will fit in snug. There'll be a small gap on the small end which I simply made 4 good tack welds to secure w/a MIG. that dropped a B/RB into a Diplomat & a '73 Satellite both which had 318's w/spool K-frames. The exhaust etc. is up to You. If that's an auto A-999 trans, You're going to need a shorter driveshaft for the A-727. Good luck, but before You do Your own thing, there are swap kits in the Mechanical Parts for Sale Forum here...check there first..I believe the Member is taking a bit of personal time, so they may not be monitoring this site very often so.....
 
I was just coming on here today to thank @Jim Lusk for his Lower Control Arm videos on Youtube.
They helped me tremendously with getting the bushings out of my 75 Scamp!

I doubt this is much help, maybe encouragement. Just remember, that "back then," at some point, SOMEBODY put a B/RB into one of those and NObody made swap mounts, or a DIY book and Al Gore had yet to "invent the internet."

Most guys, even shops, did not have MIG welders, either

I've seen some of the nonsense guys did back then to put big blocks in A-bodies, but the DC K-member came out around 1975 and there were some wrecked big block A-bodies that a few guys took parts from. My older son's Barracuda had been a drag car with a 440 from early in its life (original slant 6 car). The mounts were a series of wood blocks and rubber sheet. That stuff went straight in the trash can.
