Hey everyone, I know I guy that's got a 67 Valiant with a 408 Stroker in it. It has Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Performer RPM Air-Gap intake, 750 cfm carb, 12.5:1 compression with a .610"/.610" lift solid cam, my guess on duration is around 240-250 @.050", 1 3/4" headers.
Valiant I guess weighs in around 3200lbs.
Transmission is a built 727 w/a 4200-4500 stall converter.
4:10 gear with a 28" tall tire.

Car runs 12.70's w/trap speed I think around 110mph at around 6000ft elevation. Not sure, but does that seem a little slow for that kind of motor/ combo??
Converter seems a little tall to me??
I would think at least low to mid 11's.

110s sounds like a low 12 but seems like to me should make more power to run 10s with that compression and cam

Your 6,000 feet up. Did you adjust the carb ?

Converter might be a bit too much but don't think its hurting et. The 727 trans takes more power away from the wheels than the 904--expect 727 trans are bulletproof.

Is that an Eddy carb, if so a holley 750 dp will drop it a few tenths. With that loose of converter you might be able to just remove the secondary air door on the eddy carb. For sure the weights can be lighten up so the secondaries kick in sooner. Try lightening the weights and maybe even remove it all together and then see if it don't bog. The accel pump shot can be lengthen to help stop a lean bog.

Those eddies are good carbs, I use two 500 cfm on my 340, with mods it kicks hard, like a good old double pumper carb

opps didnt notice the 6k and ya try a holley 750 or 950!!!!

is the track at 6000'?,,,,but what was the actual corrected elevation???
110 mph with an efficient chassis will run 12 flat.....so they need to get the car to run that first...

a 12 flat at a corrected elevation of 7k or 8k would be a very low 11 at sea level....

you need to post other things like the 60 ft times..

This is almost the same build as my 408,(heads,cam,hedders)but my compression is only 10.5 to 1.I also run a 4500 8 inch convertor. My car is 3000lbs and my best run was [email protected] car runs 11.01@120mph all season with 1.47-1.48 60fts.

What brand of convertor? The car should be running low 11,s,something,s miss matched?

Yeah, the track is right around 6000ft. I'm sure he's running a Holley. Not sure about the 60ft times either. Also, not sure about what brand of convertor. I figured it should prob be faster than what it is.

with the limited amount info you have.....yes...it should or could run faster....but...is the guy who is tuning it know what he is doing?
