42RH vs 904 How To Tell Difference Visually

How do I identify visually the difference from a 42RH and a 904?

not really a way to visually see. pk number on the side. google the number or take the number to your mopar dealer.

The 904 does not have a 3 wire connector on the driver's side.

Well, that big old overdrive tailhousing is your first clue that it's a 42RH...

NSS points outwards nearly horizontal, the OD connector is vertical, mounted on the "shelf" of the casting

Would the A999 have the 5 banded clutch set up and heavier drums?

Yes, it should have 5 clutches, heavier bands, a 4 gear planetary, and the low first gearset.
