I’m looking at buying a new distributor gear and shaft. I’ll be running a comp cams flat tappet cam. Is there any one in particular I should avoid? Seems the prices are all over the place from the el cheap summit brand for 20 bucks , the Mielling for 60 and then a big jump to some other brands between 130-190. All steel, all hardened shafts, so other than quality or brand, I’m not seeing any spec wise that’s different

I use the Melling hardened shafts in my builds with flat tappet cams, never had an issue with them. Moderately priced and good quality. 65'

I bought this one from the Summit about 2-1/2 years ago, showed no appreciable wear at rebuild. Hardened shaft, pinned gear, USA made. At least this one was..

I still think MP is the best, not bad price for them

Which ever one you buy make sure the tapered end is radiused. Factory ones are known to shear off at the sharp transition.

If you read the specs the P3571071 is for the RB (but the wrong picture)
The P3412064 is for the Milidon pump and is a longer shaft.
The 3571071 is the one he needs, the Melling IS-63 is a stock replacement
I’m using a melling high volume but standard pressure pump.
