pick up my first mopar 1968 dart gt 440 auto. the seller tells me the engine came out of a 1966 fury3. how can I verify this. where on the engine can I find exactly what engine this is. I just love this site. best place ever for a car guy. by the way ran the vin on your decoder....225 6 cyl.

Flat machined pad in front of intake will tell cubic inch and a letter date code.
May also have symbol stamps for such things as under size mains ect.

Look on the side of the block and there will be casting numbers and a date that it was cast.

the flat pad on the front of motor will tell you. it will be stamped. 1966 was the first year for the 440 by the way.
