how much work is it to fit a 440 into a 67 barracuda, originally a 273 2bbl car?

You can start by contacting the link below for there mounts and headers, but getting that big lunger under the hood is only the tip of the iceberg. Highly recommended upgrades are, starting at the front, larger rad., headers, disc brakes, heavy duty shocks on all 4 corners, thicker torsion bars, 727 tranny with auxillary oil cooler for the high stall converter, new drive shaft, 8 3/4" rearend with posi (unless you want to tear the hide off one tire), upgraded leaf springs, subframe connectors and 3/8" fuel lines, I'm sure I forgot somethiing. Then it's just a matter of holding on and if you're like me I tend to giggle like a madman as I'm hitting 3rd gear. Below is all that but with a 383. http://www.engine-swaps.com/

well, i got a 383 short block, but i wanna trade it for a virgin 440 bare block so i can build a 500ci wedge. u forgot to mention a rollcage, subframe connectors, a bigger battery(relocated to the trunk) and a bucket seat with a race harness...how is the 383 working out for u?

It fits fine...You just need to get it running and driving in there. That's what takes the effort and $$.

I prefer the 383 over the 440 cuss it's not as tight a fit and I like the free reving of the 383. I don't race mine, other than the odd friday night at the track, so I haven't gone the root of rollcage and harnesses. Don't forget that you can stroke that 383 also.
