My 70, 340 is .020 over but otherwise a stock engine. I have rebuilt the original 4933S Carter but feel a good tune would benefit the performance. I am having a hard time finding a tuning kit with the 3 step metering rods and would like to keep the domed caps for originality. Does anyone have a good part number or source for the correct rods, jets and springs?
Thank you, Jerry

there are no kits with 3-step metering rods, only the 2-step rods. The only thing I can think of would be to figure out the steps on the current and figure where you need want to go - shop for 3 steps from there, they are out there if you look.

Just a thought here. will the metering springs from an AFB work in the AVS carb? If I can change the off cruise characteristics a little I may not need different metering rods. The carb idles nicely and has excellent WOT power. If it would come off cruise on gentle throttle pressure more smoothly I could be a happy camper.

I have a few parts. If u can track down the rod or jet numbers u need , I'll check to see if I have them. Kim

Thanks oldkimmer but I think I solved my problem. I ordered a set of Edlebrock Thunder Series metering springs and 1 step stiffer helped a lot and 2 steps stiffer totally eliminated the bucking at cruise. I haven't put a lot of miles on it since the change but I have a 60 mile trip scheduled this week to give it a good test.
