Hey guys wanted to post how I got rid of the ticking sound that was driving me nuts! Long story short I got a used magnum engine with low miles ported heads swapped cam and springs started getting a ticking sound that was constant.
Turns out it was ticking on the driverside 5th cylinder. The drivers side had a new reman rock auto cylinder head the other side did not. Had the original.
The push rod on that cylinder on the intake had a wear mark on it, turns out the casting of the new rock auto head was rubbing on the push rod causing it to tick. I used a carbide bit cleaned it up. Was real careful catching all the metal as best as I could. Started it up head the lifter pump up and the sound was gone
Hope this helps you guys I know @remytherat had a similar issue.
