So we are pretty sure that we have everything figured out to make the 545 trans hold up to 700-800 horsepower. A combination of hard parts and transmission programming and we have it holding up in a very high horsepower turbo jeep. In the next couple weeks we have another one going into a jeep with a 410 gen3 hemi and a 200 shot of nitrous. The jeep weighs almost 5000 pounds and my trans guy swears it will hold up based on his testing. So going this route there are no fancy controllers, you can use a flashed 2005 ram computer with a easy hotwire harness. 545 cores are abundant and cheap. This setup is still pretty pricey, but when you factor in how simplified it is by comparison I think it makes it a good solution for the majority of folks out there wanting to run an automatic. $4950 with a custom torque converter built for your application.

Thats good, if I ever get around to swapping a Gen III into my Dakota that would be sweet.

Lxmodguy,
Who is your transmission guy. I'm running a TKO600 for now, but if I ever need/want to switch to an automatic, the 545 is one of my favorites. I've always heard it won't hold up though. I have one in my 05 Ram, but I don't beat on my truck, so it's always run flawless...

Bill builds all our transmissions. Until this project he hasn't had the ability to make em hold this kind of power. This was done specifically for a customer of mine with a 5.7 jeep that has a 410 gen3 motor and runs a 200 shot of nitrous.
