I did this swap a couple years ago.
Fishy is on the right track with the 727 being bigger. The cross shaft has to be longer to reach the 904. So you can shorten it to fit the 727. about an inch if my memory serves me.
There also seems to be an A-body specific pivot bracket that goes on the 727. (at least I've only found it on an A body)
The ears on the trannys are located at just slightly different heights, But I would imagine you can get away with using the 904 bracket.
The cross shaft would just be off by a little angle. I can get a pic of what the one I have looks like tomorrow.
