Got a new problem: Car runs good in Drive and Park. When I put it in Reverse it usually kills after a few seconds (40% of times shifted to Reverse). Starting engine again after this is no problem. If I can shift to Reverse without engines death it seems to run very weak in Reverse, like it would be short before dying. This does occure at cold and warm start. Any ideas/same problems? Its a /6, 904 automatic, Holley1920, Pertronix I. Perhaps automatic problem?

Maybe the motor mounts are bad causing the carb linkage to twist (if this is a '66 and older model) or a vacuum leak or bad wire connection to get worse?

Sounds like an internal tranny issue.

Possibly trying to engage drive and reverse at the same time.
Could be the rear clutch is not disengaging in reverse...I am no expert (or even a newbie) on them as it has been
35 years since I have messed with T/F internals.

We need a T/F expert on this one.

That might effect movement of the car but it won't make the engine die. The converter and pump work the same in reverse as they do in other gears.
