Hey guys,
Has anyone used a 6 pak on a small block with a bulge hood with success? I'm close to buttoning up the engine bay in my 69 Dart, and have a slight hood clearance issue to work thru. With a level on the carbs, the engine is in bubble, though the right side is just a tad higher and thats where it's touching. I'm using Shcumaker 6 to 340 mounts. I'm now researching shorter rubber mounts or polylocks for thicknesses. I'm also looking for a shorter element for the Promax air cleaner. If it comes to it, I could slot the engine steel mount I guess. Any help would be appreciated. Here are some pics.

If you raise or lower the front of the engine you change the angle of your drive line which effects your pinion angle (relatively speaking). Also, it might cause an interference problem with your exhaust/headers. The header pipes won't line up the same if you already have your exhaust in.

I agree, but my thought is not to raise the engine, but merely to lower the right side and only change the amount of level the engine has now. I have no exhaust on yet, so hopefully there will be no issues there. I have just now gotten an email from Mark Schumaker, and he does offer an engine mount for the right side that is .5" shorter than the one supplied with the kit. I'm going to try this first. Thanks guys for all your thoughts on this,
Martin

I use a similar air cleaner (actually two of them) on my STR-12 dual quad. I found that there is a shorter filter that is made for a Ford Escort 4 cyl. and you can even get a K&N filter element for it. If you take your air filter to a good parts store that still has books, they will have dimensions and diagrams for air filters and you can measure yours and match one up with a height that works for you. I'll try and get a part number for you.

Filter that I use is 14 5/8 long, 7 3/4 wide and 1 3/4 tall.
Paper filter : NAPA Gold 6013 or Wix 46013
K&N filter element says C142A8 on the filter itself

you can also mill some off the ring of aluminum that fits onto the carb, but be careful because if it's too low it will interfere with moving stuff on top of the carb body.
