I have heard some comments on the early A power steering being a little sloppy. I wish to get those who know opinion on this topic. I would like to add power steering and I'm sure I could find someone who would swap for a manual setup but if it is considered a bad upgrade, I'll stick with my manual steering. I have a /6 so room is not an issue. Just wondering if it would be worth the swap or if the play would be a factor. I also have an aftermarket wheel right now. If I go back to a stock wheel, would it make turning any easier? I'm thinking the bigger the wheel is, the more leverage you have on turning the wheels. Is this right?

While a larger steering wheel will give more leverage to trun the wheels, it also requires more travel and effort to spin a big wheel and sitting behind a big wheel, your leverage can only be so great, comfortabley at least.

New P/S box's are available new. Cost a bit, but more likely worth the expense. The real deal here is, "Do you want it?" Or "Do you need it?"

After the cost of the box, it'll be the pump/ hose's, pulley, belt and fluid.
You may or may not need an adapter for the column and/or a newattaching arm from the box to the drag link.

I haven't been there myself, but these are problems I have read in the past in going to a manual from P/S. I'm not sure what is exactly involved.
