63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

if the 'soft' spot is away from the braces you could always use panel adhesive to glue a steel 'patch' there to double skin the inside of the roof skin in that area. that'd stop any oil canning.
neil.

That is a great idea! ;) :thankyou:

Hi, yeah, not much going on, however I have a question about the heat riser~ should I make it to where it's open all the time, not sure how I'd do it, if you look on the video at about 20 seconds in, you can see it flopping when I goose the engine. When the engine is totally warmed up, shouldn't it be open all the way?
no questions on the electric choke~ haven't tried it yet, perhaps tomorrow.
thanks;)

Running the engine makes for a great heater in my garage  (exhaust out the door of course)

No. The hot air valve is working properly. It's only supposed to get easier for the engine to open it. It's not supposed to hang open all the way. It's working right.

Hello, just cleaning shop, moved /6 out of the way as I'm pretty much done with it for now, but I can still open the back garage door, connect the exhaust and run it. I just had to paint the A833 to be color coordinated. The crap weather front is coming through right now, tomorrow and a bunch of days should be good to get back on the body works. oh, that new electric choke works great!
Now to watch the news about the helicopter/airline crash
:(

The exhaust hear riser "flapper"? funny sorta story.
Back in the 80s I could not swing a dead cat without finding a good old Mopar. Missouri NOT Texas. A Mopar bud had just mentioned a 70 purple Challenger vert over in his neck of the woods, St, Joe, running "lose" and could be bought. $1500 was not that cheap, but...( home of the pony express, NO Texas did not invent it!). I hated verts, I had already run up on 5-6 purple V code 6 pac E bodies, and I got to hating purple! but it seemed like a $ maker to help pay for my "keepers".

Was not long before I saw it, bought it and drug it home. No one wanted a 318 car back then. I got to thinking I might had made a bad buy. A guy rolls up about then, I had just unloaded it. (Back when people actually wanted a good old Mopar, before SupidBook, and Craig somebody and WENT out actually wanting to buy them! for $$$$). He sees it and immediately wants the darn thing! We fire it up and we both hear this "knock" from down low. I had not hear it before, in my haste to get it bought and loaded. He yells "rod knock" and quickly is gone. And all say "Damn!" but wait!!!!! I look closer and see the exhaust heat riser flapping and making that faint " thump. thump. thump!" Another Pilgrim comes by a day or so later, sees it, and falls over himself trying to get to his wallet.

The exhaust heat riser I guess it is called. A flap, a weight , a little rod and a spring as I recall. I have been know to just weld it all open. Many times just a rusted mess. But I am not a 100% purist. :BangHead: :poke: :steering: :confederateflag:

Here I was worried that the '76 plymouth Valiant UCAs wouldn't fit, but somewhere in the past someone (more than one)said they would, just had to use my large hammer to open up the "things", wasn't bad at all. They'll be coming back off and stored until I need them.
No pics, but working on the front fenders(off the car) and front valance. I may get the valance decent shape, enough to try the paint on it, meh, or not. We have good weather for the week, but we really need to repair/replace our 150' picket fence damage from Beryil hurricane's winds. I'd much rather do body work.

Isn’t amazing what a few taps with a BFH can do in a tight situation .
Told ya they would fit .
Now get to that fence repair job while the sun shines .

Yes sir, you told me a long time ago;) not looking forward to the fence repair:(

Here's a tip to cut down on the blood pressure spike  while trying to get torsion bars in later on. Remove the rubber bump stops for the upper control arms so the UCA's will drop down farther. Helps to get the hex lined up in the LCA when it likes just a teensy bit. Put them back in when you get the car on the ground and tension on the torsion bars. :)

Got to do a little test on my front valance~ matt sage metallic green. This is the same color as the engine. There won't be any chrome that I can think of, but will be the theme; "Super six" decals of sorts and cool decals. Gary doesn't like flat colors~ So, I may have to rethink the matt theme.

This was always my intentions to do this scheme, my version I guess

That's a nice color. Is that just the base coat or base with matte clear on it? The Dart with the Gen 3 Hemi belongs to FABO member Tin Cup if he hasn't sold it.
Yeah that was a badass build. I think he did sell it, unless I'm kornfrooshed. How bout it, @Tincup?
