This will be more of a resurrection than a restoration.I got this car a year ago December and have been slowly bringing it back to life.The car will continue to look much as you see it here.The underpinnings will be all new and updated with a 225 that has a little more "omph".The projects name will be "Leftovers" as it will have parts that were leftover from projects in the last 13 years.I'm not sure that the name "RatRod" is fitting but it sorta is.This is being done on a shoe string budget using pic-a-part parts and things laying around the shop.Some photos have already been posted on other forums here.I just thought it was time to put them together.

from the photos above some mock ups began to get a base and route on a way to go. The battery area looked really bad so the engine compartment got cleaned and a coat of paint. It's a 50th anniversary special so it will remain gold. The undercairage got a coat of black.

Starting from the rear a new gas tank and parts went in. Along with it was rebushed springs, a 8 3/4 housing from a 70 Duster, 742 suregrip pumpkin with 2.94 gears.Mancini conversion axles pic-a-part drums and all other rear brake parts came from a member over on B bodies only. I did have to get a drive shaft shortened that came from a 70 B body. The 904 was a backup that was from the 67 Dart I was racing and was never used.It was rebuilt using parts from A&A transmissions along with their forward manual shift valve body. The converter is from Hughes and is a 2700 locking.It stalls around 2200 behind the slant.

Transmission mount was reworked using the 1 stud type and was taller than the old 2 stud. Shift linkage is made from a old school Mister Gasket universal shifter.Not the best but though I'd try it. Next was the interior and some Neon buckets, Aluminum door pannels and no back seat. Floors were sprayed with truck bed paint. More to come.....

I like what I see. I am in interested in building (or buying) a 64 post Dart. It needs to have a stroker small block, auto trans with a converter and at least a shift kit, and a mini tubbed 8 3/4 rear. Keep the photos rolling. You got me hooked. tmm
 
K frame back in, suspension rebuilt with extra bushings, ball joints, tie rods etc. New stuff that was never used on other projects. Also a disc brake kit from Stainless Steel Brakes that was won in a poker game back in '06.
The engine was the one from my 67 Dart before I turned it into a drag car. I had to swap out the oil pan for a 66 and earlier pan as the 67 up pan was different and didn't clear the 64 K frame. I also added some slosh baffles in the pan before bolting it on. In the engine goes and then the bolt ons. That's the end of the pictures for now. Steering column is cleaned painted and installed. I am making a dash out of used gauges as the original cluster was shot. No radio or heat going back in. I may use a boat bildge blower for the defroster vents if needed in the future.Then on to wiring.Yuck.My least favorite thing to do.

Rad is in, under hood wiring is done and throttle cable hooked up. Next will be the exhaust. Still procrastinating the dash wiring but did make some headway with the gauges.

I will be reworking the exhaust to fit. It was from a 67 Dart 2 1/2'' thru a Flowmaster muffler and a 2 1/2'' tail pipe with a roadrunner exhaust tip.
 
The gauge cluster was shot so I thought to just make something to get by with.Maybe later do a better job,but what the heck, this a low budget use up what ya got !
Wheels and tires, V Dub 165/80/15 on cheepie Summit aluminum slots up front and a used set of 235/60/15 BFG drag radials on 6'' steelies.Will go to 7'' later on the back and may do the old school white/black half/half paint scheme. These will get it rollin for now.Had to do a little trim work on the lower front fenders as the tires are 26'' tall.

Make sure you check both front tires for clearance after car is fully weighted down. When I built my 64 Dart we only payed attention to one side to check for tire clearance and rolled the passenger side fender while backing up. We ended up modifying the front fenders to get the proper clearance. Jayson

Thanks Jayson for the heads up.You are correct as I had to remove more metal from the passenger side to get the clearance.The driverside needed very little triming but after triming the passenger side I went back to the driverside to even things up.
I wonder if my slant will yank the tires like in your photo ? !!! Lookin' Good !
 
Still working on wiring...I should have just got a new kit and been done with it.
Couldn't get the 67 Dart exhaust to fit up right,so I went into the pile of exhaust leftovers and pieces and cobbled up something to work, tacked it together and now pull it back off and weld it up.Ran out of gas for the welder so it will be next week to finish the exhaust.More photos soon
 
Things kinda stalled, Had to get motivated to start work again. Exhaust welded up with a Dynomax bullet muffler. Finished up the dash wires and son-of -a-gun all works !. The steering wheel is from a boat that the neighbor was parting out and is a old school Superior products from the 60's. I do have a new Grant wheel that will be installed at a later date. Bleed the brakes,align the front end, add coolant and will be firing it up soon. Install the hood after everything is dialed in,test ride and off to the DMV.Maybe I'll even clean the thing ! I'll post more photos outside the shop soon.
