Getting ready to install carpet in my 65 Bcuda. I bought the car as a gutted roller and am curious about the floor hole- carpet-boot situation Does anyone know if the repro boots have a mounting ring molded into them? I dont see any vendor offering a bezel or trim/retaining ring. Does the boot mount on top of carpet or directly to the floor pan?

Look up clifcuda65 in our forum. I just researched your question and a couple of years ago he was machining aluminum rings for your application

I’ve seen that thread- nice stuff. I’m curious about original style installation and the repro boots currently available.

The correct 4-speed shift plate is shown here: 65 Barracuda, 4 speed console

No one is reproducing the shift plate or - as far as I know - the boot.

To answer one of your questions, the boot is screwed to the floor, under the carpet. Then the plate goes over the carpet.

I used a leather sewing awl and scrap suede leather to make my own boot probably about the time I installed a Hurst Super Shifter sometime in the mid seventies. It is still in good shape, and has far outlasted the original rubber boot.

PS: I had to trim off the right side of the plate's ring when I installed the Super Shifter, as the shifter mechanism is mounted at a different angle than the Competition Plus factory shifter.

I don't see chrome trim like on many other models but they do repop the boot. Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and Component Specialists

$98 for a rubber boot or a couple of bucks for a nice piece of leather. Hmmmm... Your leather boot looks good.
