65 Barracuda Formula S Tachometer Wiring?

Hello all,
I just picked up a 65 Formula S tachometer.
How do these things work?
Do they need an external triggering device, or does the negative side of the coil hook directly up to the tach for input?
I see that there are electronic upgrades for the tach 63- 66 Tach Sender Upgrade Board Points/ Electronic Ignition - Premium Dash Decals by Mr.Heaterbox

Where do I get a tach sender from?

I'm sure I have a stock used one. It worked when I pulled it, but, it's been sitting on a shelf for many years, so, no guaranty it still works. I don't currently have anything running to test it. If you're going to do the electronic upgrade like what you posted, it probably wouldn't matter.
