"65 Barracuda Roll Call" just curious..how many of you have one?

Thanks for the motivation! I'm so impatient, can't wait to cruise the autobahn with her...so much so that I am considering gear vendors so I don't have to rev the hell out of the motor to keep up with the rest of traffic--with the 3.55 gears I have now.

Or maybe I should consider a highway gear...we'll see.

Loving your Cuda, cool color for sure! Mine was originally light tan.

I know everybody loves short gears for drag racing, and of course that's what you need with a big cam, But I disagree...

Tall highway gears are also very cool in our old cars with all the Detroit torque. When I first got my 64 GT it had 2.79 gears behind the 273, and it was always awesome to cruise around with the motor just rumbling at low rev. And then on the highway it did just fine.

In the US in most places the speed limit is 60mph (100kph) so most people are not really driving much above 75 most of the time. In rural areas bump that up 10. Except for track duty there just isn't that much need to ever go much faster. In your case however, you have stretches of autobahn where the limit is much higher, or even unlimited (or it was ten years ago when I last drove there, on a borrowed K100)

I think if most mopar lovers had a highway where they could take their car above 100mph they would do so in a heartbeat - and that would lead to different kinds of performance work - better tires, suspension. etc. I'm sure if you posted a video of your finished car on the autobahn at 160+ kph speeds we would all be delighted with envy.

I have two '65 Barracudas. The white one is a slant six 3 peed original with 75K miles. The silver car is an early '65 with the 273 Commando, power drum brakes and Torqueflite with 92K miles. The silver car originally had black stripes, but I replaced them with the ruby stripes when I had the silver repainted. Both cars are excellent drivers.
I had planned to attach photos, but haven't figured out how to load images off my hard drive to this message. I am in Vancouver, WA

throwing my hat in the ring..

65 Commando 273
Under 89000 original miles

Ken,

I've been hoping you would reply to this one. It is always a huge pleasure to see your maroon car. It is amazing.

Thank You! This was the first post I seen when I logged in today, and I haven't been on in months.

Here is my 65 Barracuda. I have had the car since 1976, been garaged for 25+ years. I have it running but would not trust it too far away from home. Cragers but otherwise stock. 273 automatic. I have a Edelbrock manifold and 4 barrel that is ready to go on, cheap paint job when I drove it in college. Do not see many other 65's around Albuquerque N.M. Sometimes see the 66 model. Wanting to make it road worthy. Thanks for starting up the post.

1965 Barracuda Formula S - being brought back to running condition - been sitting for a long time, but I have virtually everything I need to get it going - except a place to work right now as my house burnt. Plans are to go with a mild "hop-up" (carb, manifold, cam, exhaust) and larger wheels - for now. Of course a new paint job is in order, along with a little bit of interior repair. Just a driver!
