Several years ago Dave Bass rebuilt my wiper motor. I reinstalled it right away but the wipers wouldn't park. I returned the wiper motor and the switch to Dave to recheck it. He reassured me that there were no problems and sent it back. I reinstalled it and it still didn't park so forgot about it. Today I got a bug in my *** and decided to fix the problem and got it to work properly. Well, the wipers now park but in the upright position instead of the normal position. What the 'H' is going on?

I tried switching the wires but then the wipers wouldn't work. My car has a variable motor and switch. The Valiant series AV-2 differs from the Dart, where the wiper motor is under the hood. Barracuda's wiper motor is under the dash and not the same motor as the Dart. It is very similar to the AMC wiper motors. Timing the park is done inside the motor. I called Dave Bass for more info on this procedure. He told me to remove the motor, remove the switching plate on the back side of the motor, and move the arm 180. I tried that with no success so I called him again, and he told me to pull the switching plate again and turn the thin metal plate, inside the gear assembly, and turn it 180. Wallah! It worked! Interestingly the plate appears to be symmetrical and didn't look like turning it 180 would do anything but it did. Now we know.

Glad you got it working!
But- Dart wiper motors of that vintage are also behind the dash and not under the hood. My '66 is, and my '65 was. '67 and up moved them under the hood.
