V8 273 4 barrel A904LA tranny engine starts & idles fine but when I put it in gear RPM's drop & engine will stall if I don't feather the gas. Also much loss of power when I do drive it in gear. Checked carb/ignition etc. now I'm thinking it may be the Torque Converter any ideas?

Probably not convertor.
 
Thinking Torque Converter not spinning, for about a year when I would take it out & put in reverse car would not move for 4 or 5 seconds then move. If I put it in gear have foot on brake & give it gas for 5 or so seconds the car RPM's would drop & want to stall putting load on motor. Perhaps the pump but feel tranny is issue. Need to hear thoughts.
 
Start it up in Park, shift to neutral and let it run, then put in gear and see what happens. There is no pumping action in Park. At least that's what I think I remember from class...
