i just bought a original 65 cuda and I'm planning on making it my car with a restore or so. I had a 68 cougar before hand so i did my hw on that. So thats why I'm here I'm completely new on this cuda topic. what is this ss springs everyone is talking about what kind of ss? and also i need to know what would be bolt on for the cuda as in brakes or springs or anything in general what parts from what cars can i put into the cuda? any suggestions? i would really appreciate it if you guys can help me get my head around this new plymouth topic and I'm hoping for some insight on this project.
 
Woah,jasdeep.. SS springs,refer to Super Stock racing leaf springs. Let's start, with what you actually have, and what actually needs work. Second question: Do you want a basically stock ,safe car, or a disc brake/ front - rear sway bar ,road race car? If you don't have a plan, you need to form one(I.M.O.).

everything is bone stock.i got a 273 all original with original tranny. i mean nothing is actually the issue i just want a road racer something thats fun to drive but fast as well. can you help me with a plan like i said i need suggestions. i just got the car a few days ago i know nothing about these cud'as

Actually, there are a few FABO road racing members ,here. I would list two separate posts, for maximum knowledge: One in "racer's forums", the second in " Chassis & suspension " forums. We would need to know, if you are running a sanctioned class, or just on your own.

You're looking at rebuilding the front suspension right off the bat. You might wanna look at the Hotchkis TVS for the car. The member autoXcuda runs that system on his barracuda (68 is the year of his if I'm not mistaken) and really likes it.
 
My first project would be brakes. single pot 9" drums are terrible. 2nd would be a front sway bar. 3rd would be to get mid 3 gears for your diff or upgrade the diff entirely to a 8.25-8.75 with some 3.55-3.73 gears. The solid cam 273 loves to rev. Keep factory exhaust up to 250 HP, past that they will hurt you.

i would just keep it stock and clean until you decide what you really want to do with it. get yourself a plan before you do anything. you cant ask too many questions until you know what direction you want to go with this barracuda. good luck with your new found love.
 
I have a 904 out of my 65' that has a stage 3 shift kit and full manual valvebody!! Super fun to drive!! A lot of people asked why I would do that, then I took them for a ride!! At the time I was running a built 273, 904, 8&3/4 with 3:55 suregrip! I tell you what, that thing would go slideways shifting into drive!! Doesn't take much with our light cars!! Also ran 235/60x14's!!

definitely not keeping the drums what so ever. i Don't have a lot of money to buy brand new drum to disc conversion which is why I'm relying on the junkyard or parts from other cars. I think my fronts is 8" and back is 9" drums if I'm not mistaken its all original. also the trunk is in really bad shape any ideas?
 
I did a front disc brake kit on mine with dual master cylinder to start as safety is first! Also changes the dinky rear to a 8.25 a body rear that also helps to make it more reliable and also added to upgrade to 14 inch rally wheels from original 13 inch wheels on my formula S. Mine also has the 904 transmission with a good valve job done to it and its plenty good as when done I had it set up for running both automatically or manually. One must do with these cool cars whatever they want to make them your fun to drive, enjoyable rides. As it is not about rare car original huge value they have. Its all about your personal ideas. Enjoy the project, then enjoy driving it and turning heads.
