Im trying to put this worked 318 out a 69 satelite into my 65 dartgt which was originially the good ol slant.

Of course its a puzzle getting it to fit/work.

I got the custom motor mounts from schumaker.

So its all good and gravy that the engine can be installed and sit in the bay but wait.....stock 318 exhust manifolds bring to my attention one of many issues ill be dealing with. They dont clear the stearing column.

Ive been told the 273 manifolds will fit so believe it or not i found a set.

The stearing column is no longer a problem BUT now the passenger side seems to be a problem. Hits wheel well and the port goes directly into the motor mount.

If i were to use a stock 318 on the passenger side and the 273 on the driver side (wich solves the fitment issues) is that a bad idea and will it afect the performance or be bad for motor?

The 273 manifolds Im told are better for performance? They look better being they are much more hollow and larger inside.

THANKS!

That should make no difference at all. That is what I would do If I were you. Unless you want to get some headers. By the way, I'm going to be doing a 360/904 swap in my '65 barracuda. So lets keep in touch. I'd like to hear any issues that you come up against. Thanks. And WELCOME!!!!!! You should stick around on here. You will meet the best people in the world on this site. I've become addicted to being a part of this wonderful site. Oh, did you change out the steering center link??? That is something that you have to do to put a V8 into your car. It actually sounds like that may be your problem. Check under your car. Look at the link under your oil pan. Is your pan hitting it?? I'll bet that is what is going on here. You must change out the slant 6 center link for the V8 center link. You dont have to change the K-member though.

Ok cool I think Im just gona go with the mixed set of manifolds....but as far as the centerlink ....I dnt remember that being a problem when I dropped the motor in but Im def. gona look into that.....Thanks! and yea im pretty stoked that i got such a quick response and this site seems like the real deal so ill be stickin around thats for sure.

Ya, it is really the REAL DEAL. I was so happy when I found this site. As you can see. I have only been a member for like 3 1/2 months. Look how many posts I have so far. I just cannot stay away from here.

I used a 340 style manifold on the driver side..........
