650 dp vs 750 dp in a 408

Sounds like a small 2-barrel is what is really needed. That ought to shread the tires, the rims, right into the drums.:realcrazy:

Yeah learn to tune not just swap carbs, i would use an 850 dp with that no way a 650.

We went from 12.10s to 11.80s going from a 750 to an 850 and 3mph with minimal tuning and it still had more in it.

If the demand is the only thing that matters a 1000 cfm would be perfect for every vehicle under 500 hp...even a slant six!
Carburetor design and operation are more important than size.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

There was an article in HotRod where they strip tested 4 carbs on a street strip 434 ci Ford engine from memory in a Comet. The old 650 DP ET'd quickest. I have to laugh because all the others look like more expensive version Holley's with drop leg boosters and adjustable bleeds. Yes they tuned them from memory......

Every combo is different. Give the engine what wants.

True, but at 434 cubes every one would be screaming too small.......It wasn't it provide the motor with what it wanted to make the most power.

Or they were getting paid to sell it.

Sell a garden variety 650 DP that they've bee making for decades over the newer stuff? Not likely as I recall they used the 750HP for that.

Go and prove me wrong on a. Mopar sb or bb that a 650 is a quicker carb than 750 or 850 i dare you.

Every smallblock i have ever raced has always gone faster swapping to a bigger carb. This asumes they are tuned correctly.
The only time the gain was meager was going from a trick 1025rs Race Demon to a pro systems 1100 Dominator.
Even the enginemasters 318 i raced that went mid 11’s in a 3400 pound car was a tenth quicker with a 950 than a well sorted 750.
Never say never, but i can say i have never seen smaller ET better. Ever.

GAWD. What a bunch of BULLSHIT on this thread. Everybody always tries to be an expert.

The 650 is just a better match somehow. Run it and be happy. It's really that simple.

Had to laugh when I read this on Moparts:

Second vote for Quickfuel. I removed a Rupert 1050 Dominator from the Daytona and bolted on a box stock Quickfuel 950 4150 carb. We wanted to slow the car down a little since it was running low 8.50's and the chassis cert is only 8.50

The Quickfuel 4150 ran the exact same ET and MPH as the Rupert Dominator! I was surprised to say the least. This is on a 540 with 345 440-1 heads

We since have switched over to a Quickfuel E85 950 4150 carb. Plugged the PV and square jetted to 98 and it works beautiful! Slowed the car a tenth which is what I was looking for.

Alcohol Carb?
