Well I've started on the tear down and with warmer weather and me getting over my cold, I'm hoping to make some more progress this weekend. Here's a pic:

I faintly remember the first day I started on my 66. It looked just like your's does now. It's still on the rotisserie, but I'm progressing a little each year, and some day it'll be back on all fours again. :clock:

Keep your goals in site, here's hoping you get it done.

OldVart,I wish I could afford to do the rottiserie thing to my Dart! It,s just not gonna happen this year anyway.Hope you get back..on all 4,s.Man the 66,s are poping out of the woodwork!!I love them.

Getting it on the rotisserie is the cheap part. Gettin' it off there is the expensive part. :) And you're right, the 66's are coming out of the woodwork. For the first 25 years I had mine, I thought I had the only one left in existence - WRONG! And I'm sure glad I was wrong.

Yep, all of a sudden 66 Darts are floating to the top. It's great to see. That's why I started the 66 Dart owners post. I would like to see all of us stick together and show off what we've got.

/6 here got my 66 dart 270 out of the weeds in tnn. had a stroke. dont know if i can work on it.. what to do?????

Wow, nice cars.

Rocker moulding came off easy enough, along with the top of the doors. Now how does the trim come off the top and over the windows???

So far no rust. :)

The headliner needs to come out to access the nuts that secure the roof trim and the GT emblems.

The weatherstrips need to be removed to access the screws that secure the trim.

Unless your not going to reuse the roof trim leave it in place and work around it.

I'll be down loading and posting some new pics this weekend. Doors, hood, and trunk are off and getting sanded. The brightwork is all removed and the little dings filled and sanded. Getting closer to paint everyday.

Here are some of the most recent pictures. They include photos of rocker and roof trim fasteners.

I once painted my 69 Mustang Grande,it was an 83 Escort Charcoal Grey irid,it cahnged colours in the light.I remember getting pulled over at night time, officer asked if the car was green? No,it,s grey!Your,s is a nice colour!

Very nice. You are a few steps ahead of me. I am painting mine Dark Blue metallic as well. EE-1 was the fender code for 66.

Are you colorsanding before BC/CC? You sure you want to do that? All I know is that you have to shoot another coat of base before clear if you have sanded the base at all.

Once again, looking good.

The paint has metal flake and I shouldn't have used the term colorsanding, I'll need to go over the clear coat to take out any dust nibs and orange peel. I'll need advice on that.

how amny coats of clear did you lay down?

I would start out agressive with 400-600 wet to get everything flat and no orange peel. Then shoot 2-3 more coats of clear. Then start wetsanding with 1500 if minimal OP then 2000 then cut and buff. Should be damn near perfect after all that. This is how I'm doing mine. You may not want to do the extra clear coat but from what I have read you will see a huge difference in gloss and durability over the long term.

Thanks for that. I wondered how they come off.

Ours is getting done pearl white. 49,000 original miles.
