I’m working with a 66 Plymouth Barracuda and my question is the panel below the trunk and between the taillights is that panel the same between the 66 barracuda and a 66 valiant?

The 66 is the same panel used on the 65 Barracuda... and used on all 65 Valiants except the Valiant Station Wagon...
Mopar part number 2422 006.. see photo below of Mopar Dealer parts catalog... so I'm pretty sure that it would apply with the 66 model year...Hope this helps you..

Clifcuda65, thanks for the info.
You know what I will check my 66 manual just to verify the part number.
Thanks
Dan

Probably a different part # because in 66 they changed the Key Lock Cylinders in the doors/ trunk access... ?? So the Hole in the panel is slightly different ?
Best to find a 66 Valiant / `cuda... but if you can't, don't overlook the 65 model year for that panel...

CudaMark, Thanks for the lead for the part I purchased it from the wrecking yard in San Diego. I had them send the part Greyhound.

The door lock cylinder is definitely different 65 to 66. But you can use a 66 door lock gasket on the trunk lock of a 65 Barracuda. Same trunk lock both years? I no longer have my 66 Barracuda so can't say.

Thanks everyone for your inputs I found a 66 Vailant panel and purchased it before checking if it fits the barracuda a 66. I was so happy to find a replacement panel since as a young man I wrecked the car and my dad wasn’t very happy. The reason I’m replacing the panel is the unit is the car has an extremely bad carbon monoxide issue i.e. makes all my friends sick riding in the car.

You'll probably notice that the section where the taillight bolts to the quarter panel is slightly different on the Valiant. For use with a Barracuda taillight, you need to remove that small welded-in piece where the backup light goes.

Yes I will see if they are going to use the pass side I think the driver side on my cuda should be good. If they need to use panel I will have them trim it to fit.
