67 Barracuda Slow Going

-
Great work! Yes grilles are tedious, heres what I used in places.
Just an update, finally moving forward again on the Barracuda. Replaced both side windows. And spent 3 hours today removing the grill and bezels from the front to get ready for paint. I had to use a dremel to get the small bolts off (if they didn't just break like half of them did).
I'll start cleaning up and polishing the metal soon. I never ever want to remove the grill again as it's a real pita! Not sure how I'll reattach it when done but I've seen a thread about that on here so I'll do some searching today.View attachment 1715818786 View attachment 1715818787 View attachment 1715818788 View attachment 1715818786

Awesome thanks alot! I was hoping someone would share what worked for them. I'll track some of them down asap. I bet someone out there just used heavy duty adhesive to glue it all back in place like I thought of doing for one second only Lol.

Finally ordered the t bolts and will get a rivet gun today and tackle the grill restoration.

It's in the shop getting ready for a re spray finally, going with same dark blue base then clear with black tail stripe.

Ok, so I took my headlight bezels and grill apart and started sanding off the worn out anodization coating and polishing the trim. It's tough and tedious but I'm sure the results will be alot better than what I started out with. I'm starting with 120 grit then 240 then 320. then 400 then 600 and finally 1500 grit before I use metal wheel polish to finish it off. I'll post pics of the results when I'm done.

This is one piece of my grill that I have sanded smooth and removed the coating, next step is when I'm done with all 4 pieces I'll use aluminum wheel polish to shine them up. It's such a slow tedious process but I'm hoping the results will be worth it.

Not sure if you plan on painting the black stripe or not, but I used black trim tape and it worked perfect. It also worked on center stripe of console as well.

Thanks! Good suggestion, I already started painting it black though using spray paint.

I believe theres a thread where people use draino or something else to strip the anodize off and then rework the aluminum from there.

I have ended up using oven cleaner and it's working well, im on my last piece before polishing using aluminum wheel polish. Thanks for the suggestion.

Finally got the old broken bolts out and new ones installed and re riveted back. Now I will clean everything very good and do some more polishing and painting before final re assembly. I can se the finish line and though it won't be perfect I glad I tackled it and didn't just leave it as is.

Lol Mike, every once in a while you just never know I may just sneak one in.

I wish I had been smart enough to load up on all the raunchy calendars I saw when I was MUCH younger. Not to mention buying a 71 Hemi Cuda convertible or a new Boss 429 Mustang.......

Heres a 90's Hooters, I have a few from the 90's. Coolest one I have is from a house we lived in and was there before us. Cellophane "liftoff" lol
