I am installing the shifter bracket and need to know or see where the shifter lines up with the dash ash tray. Does the shifter line up with the center of the ash tray or is it slightly off set, what is the distance between the shifter button (in park) and the dash ash tray (open/closed)? A pic from the rear seat of a factory console car would be great.

Yep,thanks. It is centered with the dash ash tray. Is it a factory console car?

Yes, it's a console car and actually the shifter is offset a bit to the right of center.....

Great, thanks. I looked at your other pics but couldn't understand some of your mark coding on the floor. Is there a translation? :)

The photobucket link pics aren't mine. Just found that in a search here for 'ya :)

Do you need more pics and/or measurements?

I do :). What is the distance between the back of the shifter bracket and front of the rear support bracket and the front of the shifter bracket to the front support? I may actually get this thing set up quick :). I found a youtube video that gives the side/centered shifter bracket measurements.

Is this pic in the park position? If so,what is the distance between the open ash tray and the front of the shifter?

Years ago Redfish on here had a template, I believe

Don't know if these will help, as I removed mine for a Cheetah. Part of the rear bracket is there, the one that bends and folds over "to the left" on the floor at the rear corner of the bracket. In one photo you can see the weld from the front right side bracket by the front bolt for the Cheetah

In the photo below the tape at 28" to the rear bracket is laid straight across from the standing seam at the door sill

Below, the start of the tape intersects a line if you would lay a straightedge across the front bucket seat mounting holes. This amounts to 12" to the front edge of the front bracket, and 16" as shown to the console ears. The rear edge of the left rear bracket is about 6"

I can't get those measurements without pulling the console :)

Yes, in park & it's 2" from the edge of the open ashtray to the widest part of the shifter ball.

Crap, thanks though. I hooked up the lower shift rod yesterday and I'm pretty sure the bracket is where your measurements are. I will have the gf help me line it up better later and use some self tapping screws til I can weld it. Thanks a bunch.

Can you give me the measurement from the upper screw hole to the front or rear of that shifter bracket? Thanks

I would just put it where the shifter is level...nothing worse than ending up with crooked shifter lol

You referring to the screw hole for the boot?

And to where, the rear bracket ear?

Still have my rigid master template here. 10" W X 60" L. It had to be that big to use those fixed points found in every a-body. What I shipped was a folded paper reproduction of the master. End user would glue it to a more rigid substrate, ( cardboard or better ). Wanting to help and unable to really really sux.
