68 Barracuda Fastback build

Not a chance! The best you can do with a 15" wheel is a Viper caliper on an 11.75" Cordoba rotor.

Wrong. I've got 12.19" Wilwoods for my 15" wheels. This is probably the best.

Thanks guys for the feedback on the brakes.

Right now i'm trying to sort out my new rear end, trying to find a 489/741/742 sure grip.

Some work done today as that was my only holiday for the Easter weekend...

Bad news on the rear valance :(

Travail du jour et mauvaises surprises...

Delivery today : happy, but the wheels have "curb damage" on all 4 because of shitty packaging, so I will have to sand them and powdercoat them all over again ... Kinda sucks imo.

Cragar, next time, please put some freakin foam around your wheels, as the delivery guy usually doesn't give a f*** about what he's delivering...

Pistons arrived today. The wheels will be media blasted and powder coated this weekend.

The engine goes off to the machine shop this weekend, it will be back in a couple of weeks.

Keep the updates coming. What size tires did you get and what part number KB pistons are those ?
Luke

I see your seat for racing Xbox or PlayStation. What kind is it? I built my own. Has a Viper seat on it. :glasses7::burnout:

Pistons are KB399-030.

The tires are 235 in the front and 255 in the rear, on 15" rims.

The racing seat is a Playseat Challenge, costs about 250$ and it folds completely together so you can save space when storing it away. i have a Logitech G920 on it and must setup the gear shifter too. I play mostly Forza 6 and Project cars but I'm waiting on Assetto Corsa later this year (really good physics on this one).

I have Forza 6 setup on the basement big screen with my seat. :burnout:

What is assetto corsa?

If It turns out anything like the sketch the car will be beautiful. I wanted to go with the same color scheme on my duster but since it was yellow in High school I figured I better keep it yellow. Fastback Barracuda is my favorite abody.

A few photos of the parts i powdercoated last week. I'm getting my rims back this week and will powdercoat them Midnight Black.
I'm dropping off the engine at the shop tomorrow.

I've also started removing the rust from the body panels and cutting the bac sheet metal.

The goal was to get it running and driving for my 30th birthday at the end of August but that's gonna be a bit tight especially as work is getting a bit crazy and I'll be gone for several weeks in June and July ...

But I'm doing my best :)

Clutch, flywheel, rear valance, trunk floor extension, all weatherstripping, front windshield glass, all ordered for the Cuda.

As usual, can't wait to get the parts!

I'll have the bellhousing and maybe a gearbox this weekend, then the shocks should arrive soon (Hotchkis is taking its sweet time to produce and deliver them...).

Then I need to start preparing the bodywork for welding as well as the modifications I have in mind (front splitter, rear ducktail spoiler, hood louvers) as that will keep me quite busy!

The rims will be back from the blaster this weekend too hopefully, worst case on Monday. So i'll be able to give them a new and clean powder coating.

I picked up the bellhousing and a couple other things. Thanks Todd for the advices on the 318 build and for firing up one of your cars, that gave me so much drive to go forward on mine and get it to running point again :)

Once back home, i had a package waiting for me with the flywheel bolts, throwout bearing and flywheel :)

489 case + 3.91 Richmond gear and a billet yoke bought this morning at the swap meet in Monroe.

The rear 8.75 housing with Moser axles arrives in the next week or so.

I found a A833 gearbox but it was for a B/E body, was an overdrive and had the input shaft shortened, so not worth it for me. Still looking then...

Some of the recent work done :

Powdercoated the new pedals assembly, heater core, interior rear panels.

I'm flying to Europe in 3 weeks, the goal is to put the engine back together (I have to clean up and maybe rebuild my oil pump, and get a new water pump). I need to finish porting the heads, get a cam timing tool to put it back together properly, clean the oil pan and powdercoat it, clean the headers and put some high temp ceramic coating on it too.

Bodywork is slowly moving forward as I must have the car outside of the garage when i work on it and with the rain lately, I can't progress as fast as I'd like...

The goal remains to drive the car to our Design Car Show at Ford on my birthday on August 25th.

Also on the way : new brake lines, Painless wiring harness, bearings for the diff, and a couple other small things.

Some work done recently, with the engine starting to be back together, and some headwork.

I found a 833 gearbox that i'll pick up in August, and the engine will be put together mid next month with also a new water pump, bigger valves, hardened seats, new pushrods, rebuilt oil pump, etc etc.

Then I'll move onto the bodywork.

nice work. looking forward to the ducktail idea..

IF it helps to envision it, I do have a ducktail on mine and like the look on the fastback. Rather than reposting, there are a few angles showing it in my photo garage and some posting and pics specifically regarding it in my original welcome thread.

1969 - Gone Fishin'

My New 1969 Barracuda

I also have a fairly deep chin spoiler.

Thanks for the photos, nice lookin Cuda (just not a fan of the 18s but the rest is cool!).

I actually might drop the ducktail idea and build an adjustable spoiler as I'm going a lot further than initally planned for the build. I had some fun the other day with one of my photos when i bought the car, and photoshopped it into a trackday toy :p
