68 brake upgrade?

My browsing of the forum has led me to conclude two things about my 68 barracuda 440 project.

1) 5x4.5 pattern wheels are the way to go,

2) must upgrade at least the front brakes.

My 440 will have iron heads but aluminum intake. Lets say an extra 80-100lbs over the original 318. Can't I just leave the wife at home and stop better than stock? Lol
 
Ouch! Hope she doesn't see this thread, pretty sure you might wake from a coma. Anyway using 11.75 rotors will be a big help, but there are other options like a 14.25" rotor with viper calipers but will require 18" wheels at the min. That will give you all kinds of stopping power.
 
I guess my point is the weight difference isn't major, less than the weight of my lovely wife.
