How's the spring on the shift lever, and the gear indicator?

The spring is tight. I am guesing that is a good thing. The gear indicater is white and very clean. The selector moves from one gear to the next as you would expect.
This was pulled from a car 30 years ago and has been sitting in a basement since. very nice and clean.
