68 valiant front side markers

Can anyone help identify the wiring in the pictures attached? I’ve looked up wiring diagrams and seems there should only be one wire going to the side markers which I assume is the yellow connector. Anyone know what the black connector is for? I figured it’s a ground but not sure what it’s for. My headlights, running lights and front blinkers work fine.

The factory manual shows dark green, one wire. The markers are park circuit, not on the turn signals. Wire L17-18DGN goes through the bulkhead connector to the R terminal on the light switch, which is the tail/ marker lights

By the way you put your question in "general discussion." You really should consider putting stuff in the categories designed, as there is an electrical section. No harm no foul, but for the future
