Hi I wondered if anyone has experience of the replacement rear trim panels for the trunk lid on 69 Barracudas. The previous owner of my car has fitted indicators to the panel just inboard from the brake lights, also the top and bottom edges of the panel are a bit dented, although I could probably tap them out.
The existing panel is a single piece that has the centre section that sits between the brake lights as well as the trim sections at the top and bottom of the trunk lid. The panel that is available from Summit and Jegs etc maybe looks like it is just the section between the brake lights and doesn’t include the trim sections. Has anyone bought one of these?

Yep, it's referred to as a finish panel. One piece. There are no other trim pieces. A picture would be great but those panels are around $400.

This is typically what comes on all 69 Barracudas except the Formula S version which is black and has the S medallion. You can not buy them argent or black with the fish or medallion from the aftermarket companies.

Unfortunately at the moment it seems only Jegs have them in stock although I’m doubtful that they actually do. The problem is the pictures that they all have of the panel show it as only the centre section which makes no sense as it is as you have in the picture on your post. Anyway I’ll go ahead and order it and then wait for them to tell me they don’t have it Thanks.

Here’s a picture of the panel on mine, he drilled holes for the wires and the bolts to attach the indicators so I guess if I have to I could try to do a patch up job.

Sorry, Righty, your car does not have a 69 finish panel. that's the problem. What you have is the 68 trim panels with two big ugly custom lights cut into the metal. However, the proper 69 panel would cover up the holes, no problem.

I don't know what's going on with the bottom photo (message #8) — there has NEVER been a panel that was just the center section highlighted in that photo. Maybe they were just trying to show that this product had the argent finish center, as opposed to the black finish? Anyway, just ignore it — it doesn't exist.

If you patched the holes where the lights are and painted it flat black like a formula S, it might look ok.

It is definitely a 69 trim panel, just painted body color in the center.

Sorry but that's one abortonized tail panel. That is a mix of 68 and 69 to me. 69 with holes hacked in and looks like 68 mouldings mounted on top of 69 panel.. :BangHead:
@RAT ROD AL has proper 69 panel for sale.

Yeah I think you're right about the photo in the product descriptions it's not indicative of the actual product. The panel on my car is one piece, it's hard to see in the photo but it is a 69 panel with the top and bottom trims and centre section all pressed in one piece, having said that I think it has been fitted with the wrong hardware as the bottom outer corners sit very proud of the trunk itself, although equally that could be the reflectors or something on the back of the awful indicators pushing it out. I hate to think what I'll find when i take them off. Which leads onto the other issue which is that the original wiring and ballasts that allowed the brake lights to also flash as the indicators has been removed, so finding the parts and how to re instate that is going to be another puzzle. The sad thing is the car had indicators mounted below the bumper probably because it was a UK market car, why he had to put those horrible things up there I just dont get.

Yep it's a mess, combined with the tow hitch on the back it makes me try to park it nose out! Anyway, all the fun of the fair, it's fixing these things that is part of owning them, I'm in the UK so I'll ask Al about his panel, but shipping and custom are murderous from US to UK. I am thinking that if I can plenish out the worst dents on the edge trims as a daily driver level solution I might back up the panel with an epoxy bonded aluminium piece then fill the holes with a respray in Argent silver and then put the reflective red tape strips back on.

This is the panel a bit closer, pretty sure its a 69, the colour break is just masked and sprayed. But you can see how bad the alignment is with the brake light bezels, I think the trunk lid alignment isnt helping. But funnily enough once I'm behind the wheel it all gets forgotten pretty quick!

Thanks for closeup pic. Yeah shipping is more brutal now unfortunately. Do you have a factory service manual? It will have schematics and worth every penny. You can chk mymopar.com they have manuals etc and a free download.
Wiring may not be too bad.
Good luck!

Good point, yes I do have the manual, so I should be able to backtrack the wiring and find the part numbers, thanks.
