OK I ran into this guy that has a 69 fb barracuda, it also has the CUDA' badge/decals, very very rare. I know that about a month or less before the 70 changeover that they did put this on certain cars. Is there a code for this on the tag or buildsheet? and what particular barracuda recieved this badge? notchback, fastback, convertable or all of the above? drivetrain dependent on this? :read2:

:hello2:welcome:hello2: Yes there should be a code on the fender tag. It's A56 for 340 & A57 for 383 and probable A58 for a 440. I think it was available on all Barracudas, but maybe not on the convertible. They had hood scoops like these....

Nice cars guys!!! I'm having trouble loading pics to show mine but anyway... So if the barracudas got the hood scoops then that would designate if it's a cuda more or less or visa versa. OK heres a tuff question on what date did they start the Cuda badge in 69 April xx ? and did the 'Cuda replace the S emblem

Im not sure as to the start date for the Cuda pkg. As for the "S" or Cuda pkg, they were both different. The Cuda didnt replace the "S" The S" pkg for 69 was fender tag option A53.Matthon knows his $hit when it comes to the "S", maybe he will chime in again.

The Cuda package was Not available on convertibles. Only the fastbacks and coupes.
Both the 'Cuda and the Formula S were available throughout the 69 model year with the 340 and the 383. The 440 Cuda is the one that was introduced later. Both Cuda and Formula S appear in the 69 Barracuda brochures. The Cuda package in 69 was intended to be to the Formula S, what the Road Runner was to the GTX. Over at Dodge the same concept resulted in the Swinger being sold alongside the Dart GTS.

A56 'Cuda 340: 666 built
A57 'Cuda 383: 461 built
A13 'Cuda 440: 360 built from December 1st 1968 to May 18th 1969
A53 Formula S 340: 1,839 built
A53 Formula S 383: 718 built

There were also regular 383 and 340 Barracudas built.
Check the VIN as well to verify the engine.

Thats very interesting and informative thanks for all the info. With the production numbers that you have shown for the 69 'Cuda versions I haven't seen very many, mostly just the S package Barracudas. Wonder where they all went? There should be one in my garage!!!! darn =P~
