1969 Dodge Dart GTS
Rare Big Block 4 speed A Body Mopar in B5 Blue.
My intent was to keep this car forever, but unfortunately it is time to sell.
This is a long description, but it took 7 years of work to get to this point.
Preserving the originality of this classic muscle car was the focus.
Vin # matches the front cowl, rear trunk lip and the in place fender tag.
Discreet upgrades include;
Rebuilt engine (non # match) with a Lunati cam, worked heads, Mopar Performance, period correct, aluminum intake and an Edelbrock carb. Only 2000 miles on rebuild. Dyno sheet confirms new build produces over 380 HP. A fresh Brewers 4 speed Transmission, new clutch, Zbar and linkages with a new driveshaft spin the SureGrip 3:55s (which replaced the 3:91 track pak), along with new axles and seals.
The rare A body Big block exhaust manifolds lead to the oversized exhaust pipes with crossover before exiting out of the correct chrome tips. New stainless fuel tank, sending unit and all new lines and hoses.
Engine repainted as factory original Hemi Orange, capped off with freshly dipped chrome valve covers, correct hoses and clamps just like when it left the factory in 1969.
Hidden is the Revonator electronic ignition box, no more points. Correct (round back) alternator, voltage regulator and ballast resistor (as if it had points) but its electronic, even down to the correct color distributor cap.
Entire engine compartment was detailed after all components were removed. Correct master brake cylinder was rebuilt with all new SS brake lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, backing plates and E brake cables.
Gone are the 9" drums and 14" wheels, they have been replaced with front disc's and 11" rear drums. Now the period correct Magnum rims sport the upgraded BF Goodrich radials, a staple on muscle cars of that Era. (NO body or chassis modifications were made to accept the beefier tires).
The entire interior was removed, dashboard instrument cluster was sent out for rebuilding, the speedo was calibrated and the oil "idiot" light has been dicreetly changed into an oil pressure guage. All wiring harnesses from bumper to bumper have been replaced and all lights, switches and bulbs were replaced. All guages and components work as expected. The original AM radio was sent out and now hides the new AM/FM, Bluetooth technology, the hidden antenna is mounted out of sight above the original rear view mirror. New kick plates with integrated speakers and 2-6×9 speakers hidden under the rear package tray make the sound. New headliner and sail panels finish the interior.
The 4 speed console and rare Tachometer option was completely rebuilt as new. New Dyna mat and carpeting cover the rust free interior, the original flawless seats remain. Also completely removed and rebuilt were the heater box, mode doors, cables and the hidden areas below the wiper arms where over 50 years of leaves and dirt had accumulated.
The entire undercarriage has been cleaned and detailed and all suspension components were replaced, or cleaned and painted, including the K frame. Leaf springs and all other rubber grommets and bushings have been replaced throughout.
Both front and rear windshields have been removed to replaced the gaskets, frame channels were solid. Both bumpers were solid and re-chromed along with any other chrome pieces that needed attention.
Car was probably repainted at some point before I got it and looks great despite a few dings and natural wear.
Front grill has been re built and correctly painted as well as the rear trunk panel replaced.
No rust was ever detected during the painstaking process of trying to keep this classic as original looking as possible.
Still have many additional parts.
Over 7 years of attention to detail and the preservation of originality is evident in this terrific factory specimin. Turns heads everywhere it goes.
Thanks for looking.
