I have 6x9 in the dart my stereo unit is a Sony has separate bass mid and so on not a high dollar unit.I am looking for a 6x9 with a nice base sound to it is there such a speaker out there.I don't want to put in boom boxes, just something better than the Jensen I have now, witch by the way one keeps shorting out I have to hit the magnet to get it to work.

Try a peak at Crutchfield.com for ideas. 6X9 bass speakers are only made by a few manufactures. I think you'll find them by kicker and ummmm, crap, brain fart.... ummm, AAAaahhhh, dang.....

This is as close as I get so far.

Theres also this option of a free air speaker. You could just make some simple bar mounts, like a angle iron cut down to fit the span of the truck renfocement bars behind the rear seat and box it in to fit and screw the speaker to the bars.

I have used the Infinity brand before, I like the Kappa line more so, didn't see it though. Theres other brands listed for free air there.

I am going to run a pair of Boson Acoustics 6x9's in my rear deck connected to a 60x2 amp. I don't listen to a lot of bass heavy music, but I like a good solid bottom end. These are the speakers I bought

BA 6x9

I picked up a good used 60x4 channel amp for $100.

The key is to good bass response is having PLENTY of power. Pushing even the most expensive speakers with a head unit alone will end up causing distortion and damaging the speakers.

In actuality most 6x9s have similar output characteristics.
What sets them apart is the electrical information sent to them. I speak of a crossover. If the rest of the system is sonically pleasing to you, put a low pass filter set at what ever crossover point you feel meets your need between the amp and the 6x9s.
In the meantime here is a link to a company I use for building speakers for large venues and as it happens for the missile.

I have a pair of Pioneer 6X9 tri-axles under the rear shelf.
I think they have as good a bass response as any 6X9.
I want a Bazooka brand bass cannon. The smallest one they offer will suit me. These have their amp built in but powering it is optional.
I owned one years ago. The amp in it was fried. I used it with the stereo in the house for a long time. Wish I hadn't sold it.

x2.

I love Parts Express! I have some of their 7" Daytons in my Dakota.

I personally like polk...they have the crispness you want and enough bass to suffice. Don't be discouraged by the price of them in the stores. Go take a look at the 3 and 4 way speakers Polk offers at your nearest audio shop and if you like them, go to amazon and buy them. Polk 6x9s are $80 on amazon as compared to $150 in the stores.
