7 1/4 axel swap

Good Day, i have a 67 dart with the small bolt pattern and brakes. I also have a newer, not sure of the year, 7 1/4 with the big brakes and bolt pattern that has been completely gone thru. It looks brand new. I would love to use my small pattern axels on the new one. Will they interchange? The research I've done so far seems to be bearings are the real difference. Don't want to get two different bolt pattern wheels, the front is already the small disc units. Appreciate any/all input.

Assuming you can use the SBP 7 1/4 axles at minimum you would need to use the SBP brake drums and probably backing plates.

Thats looks like a great tool but it wont work on my axels theres to many holes close together.

And how do you deal with the large hole in the axle flange? The one used to remove the backing plate nuts.

That’s a very valid point. Probably made for use with C-Clip axle retention. Given the complication of changing brakes, it may be best to post a wanted ad for an early axle.

Talked to the Dr. the axels will not interchange.
