7 inch headlamp removal

So I've ordered front and rear glass bumpers and front brackets . Front bumper loaded was 33.6 pounds. Rear with brackets was 24 pounds. Replacement bumpers are 4 pounds each!
Filler neck was 1# 12ounces. Pulled the vent line and trunk grommet as well. Anyway looking at removing the non functioning headlamps and hardware. No harness in the car so don't go there. I see 7 inch decals available . What are racers doing?

Have some aluminum discs made that will fit in the headlight rings. A print shop could print you up some vinyl stickers that look like a headlight. Or buy these.

I was looking at the decals. Just need to figure out what to attach them to.
 
These are decals on fiberglass. You could cut some aluminum disc as stated above and put the decals on those.

Before I consult my NHRA rule book can I use aluminum sheet to cover the hole left when I remove this? I'd assume so at a certain minimum thickness like the rear firewall.
