'70 Duster - First MOPAR Build

-
I finally picked a place for 2 of the 4 A/C vents. I debated a long time on this, but I'm happy with it.

Going in the dash where the heater controls were...

Also got the Firm Feel sway bar mounted. This was one of the easiest components I've put on the car. Took about 30 minutes, and not a single cuss word!

Don't mind the dust, I really need to get the rear end cleaned up.

So, after 2 months of rain here in TX, I finally have the old girl in the paint booth.

I laid down silver for the accent stripes today and I'll finish the body with charcoal gray tomorrow.

More pics to come.

A couple of boo-boos along the way, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. I'm a little over 4 years into this project so it's really great to see the car with paint again. I was getting tired of looking at primer!

I still have a custom decal package to put on, but here she is with finished paint. Also a cut & buff is in the future.

Did I mention how much wet sanding sucks?!
4 passes with 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000 grits.

But, it is worth it, when it's buffed out.
I'm using Meguiars 110 & 210 this time.
Normally, I'd use their 105 & 205. So far, very happy with the new formula.

So far, I've done the deck lid, tail panel, and tonight did the drivers quarter panel.

looks nice! what size wheels/tires are you running? Also, do you think the rear sway bar would clear a 9" rear end?

Tires are 245/45R17 in the front and 255/50R17 in the back.

I don't think you'd have any problem with the sway bar in any rear end. But, I'm not familiar with the 9". Are you talking Ford 9" or MOPAR 9 1/4"?

You can sort of see better here...
Firmfeel Mopar Suspension and Steering

If you go with this sway bar, do not be in a rush. Took me like 12 or 13 weeks to get it.

Yes, i have a ford 9".... really!? that long of a leadtime? yikes

It's been quite a while since I've posted on this build thread. Things have been moving slowly, mostly due to me starting another project and splitting my time.

It's time to start tackling the wiring. I have the American Autowire kit. Very impressive kit, everything is well labeled and there is a lot of extra stuff in the kit. Just due to the fact that it covers 67-75 A bodies.

It was overwhelming at first, but I just started with one wire and went from there.

So far, I've ran almost everything under the dash and completed the rear wiring. Next is the engine bay and front end.

Not much new to report lately.

I did start getting the front end put back together. I'll finish up the wiring and put in the grill soon.

I got myself a sneak peek at the custom grill.

I'm going to reserve judgement until it's all put together, with the hood on, radiator in, bumpers on, etc.

to me it needs something more, maybe something attached to the front of the mesh (bolted from behind). it looks like the grill was broken so it was cut out and mesh stuck in there to fill the gap (no offence). so if something was fitted to the mesh it could look 'floating' as the black mesh kind of disappears. it wouldn't need much.
neil.

I do have the Plymouth grill logo that still needs to go on. Plus with the radiator behind it, I think it will add some depth. And the bumper running parallel underneath should help
