Would a real 70 340 Swinger come with a thumbwheel radio only? or did they come with regular style radios with round knobs?

I believe the AM thumb wheel radio was the only choice for tunes in a 70 340 Duster and Dart rallye dash. The standard instrument cluster in the 70 Valiant and Duster had knobs. I think it is a unique radio as well. It mounted different than the B body and a button was different or something like that.

It's the same radio as a 68 and 69 barracuda, but the difference Is the radio dial face says "solid state by Plymouth" and the 70 one year only radio face says "Chrysler solid state"

Originals are hard to find and the prices usually reflect the rarity. Even harder to find is the hardware to mount it. They take flush keyhole bolts on the front.

The thumbwheel radio for 70 was one year only and unique to A body and unique to the rally dash.

That is what I thought. My friend' Swinger is a mish mosh of parts and has the wrong dash bezel. I haven't tried to install the radio I have for my Duster and I hope its correct for my car. Its supposed to be the right one and I also bought the special mounting bracket for it. Bought it all here on FABO

340 cars came with high performance radios to match the performance of the 340.... 318 radios were too wimpy for a 340...

70 Rally dash thumbwheel only, 71 Rally dash (Demon) is the same but has a knob radio. go figure...

Im pretty sure I have the right one but it has no part number tags on it. I took it out today to try to at least mount it to cover up the holes in my dash. I have no idea how it mounts though. I bought it from someone here on FABO and the thing is definitely not functional from what I can see already. What do you expect for $125.00

Most similar radios fit and plug in regardless of application. There are exceptions though.

i have a few spares I am repairing now
You have as few 1970 thumbwheel radios? Maybe once you have one fixed I can buy one of them off of you and also give you mine that needs repair as partial payment.

Send him a message. Let's not hijack the op's thread and turn it into a sale thread.

I have a 69 thumbwheel from my uncles 69 340 Swinger and it says “Dart Solid State”...my old 69 Dart said the same thing. So a 1970 Dart radio should say “Chrysler” instead?
