I have a 71 Dart Swinger that currently has a /6, 904, 8 1/4.
I am going to dump in a 360 this winter. I have a rebuilt 727 and an a body 8 3/4 rearend. I am looking for all kinds of advice on this build. The 360 is a 79 model, and I'm looking for some inexpensive ways to gain some hp before dropping it in. Anyone know any good inexpensive cam/head/carb installations? It has a edelbrock 650 4 barrel right now, thats as much as I know. Any recommendations on a good set of headers? I also found a set of 323 gears for the rearend, and was told that would be a good combination. Any info is greatly appreciated thanks.

You can learn alot about your questions, keep reading the fourm. Do you have everything (parts wise) to do this swap? v-8 mounts and or v-8 k-member,360 cooling system, driveshaft? If so, your questions are more like opinions, you can get a hundred different kinds... Headers,is a good start..If you would like my opinion, let me know...

I don't have a radiator or driveshaft, but I do have a motor mount conversion kit for the car from Schumacher. I don't have headers yet, but am definately in the market for some, do you have any insight on which ones are good, or ones to stay away from? How about the complete exhaust kits you can buy from jegs or summitt?

It`s hard to go fast with out spending money..Go with a step header,,,or Flowtech headers..I held a flowtech beside hooker, only diff. i could tell was the price. Use your carb. for now.Maybe a used air-gap or a used LD-340 intake.Your going have to shop to save money.Go to( engine parts for sale) on this forum.(cam) stock 340 w/210/220 dur. and 429/442 lift,w/114* L.S.A. or a 214/224 dur. and 443/465 lift w/112* L.S.A. Roller timing chain, have heads checked for defects before working on them. If you like doing has much as you can to save$$$ Harbor freight has a long shaft die grinder on sale,$30.00 buy assortment of grinding burs(their not cheap)but worth it in the long run.Gasket port match your heads,And your intake.Use wd-40 or equal,to keep aluminium shavings from clogging your bits.normal valve job, springs installed..(don`t recomend 3-angle for a daily driver) up grade your ing.w/hotter coil and copper or stainless core plug wires.Autolite plugs#63..340 windage tray w/ high-volume oil pump.(cams are speed pro w/matching lifters&springs)2800 converter,,,3.55 gears. How much money is left? how about s/s springsw/adj.snuber,long shocks... Those of you reading this,i would gladly welcome your input..Don`t want steer him wrong..NOT sure about the exhaust system,,,maybe checkw/ your local muffler shop, then compare prices. To help compression use 20* steel head gaskets.. Northern auto parts have mounts for your application....60.00 bucks..www.naparts.com
