There is full metal behind that trim bezel so you wouldn't see anything with it removed.
Use a deep well socket through 2 holes in the bottom of that a/c vent assembly to remove it. Then remove the ash tray and its hanger. Thats the short version. A service manual has more detail ( free download ) . Alternative to all the above is remove the glovebox liner and maybe you can see what you're looking for that way. About all you could do from there is plug in the antenna so...

Like Redfish said....pull the A/C plenum and take a look from under the dash with a flashlight. You should be able to see the power, antenna, and speaker connections. At that point, you'd be able to remove the radio too if needed.
