72 Dart sunoco style hood

-
Check out the excellent build thread by @SwingerLSX75 who had Glasstek do his hood. Maybe he can chime in to see if he is happy with it now that it has been on there a while. Around post 823 is where the Sunoco style hood gets put on.

I still love my hood from glasstek. It's been on there for a little over 4 yrs I think, drag n drive events, mid 8s in the 1/4 mile and east coast to west coast and back. I love their products.

I don't want a front facing opening on a 170-180MPH car. My nitrous car has a 6pack scoop on it.

An NHRA Pr Stocker has a front facing scoop and runs 211 MPH. Also that scoop adds in almost a 100 HP from the ram air effect.

So actually you'll be giving up performance with a Sunoco style of scoop, but hey to each his own.

It won't add any performance at all to my combination, There will be a closed carb hat inside the giant front facing hood scoop... NHRA Pro stockers are using flat or cowl hoods for a few years now as well. But thanks for the input, I'm guessing you don't know who might make the hood I'm looking for, so I'll get glasstek to build me one.

Once you get your motor set in place and where its going to be, you can measure where your highpoint will be and call them and they can put the highest point of the sunoco scoop there like they did with mine. With it not being a beaker it should be even easier for them to situate yours. Make sure you share finished pictures.

I will call them when I get the engine and trans mocked up. Cage is about done doing rear suspension/ housing now. Hope to have it rolling in Jan. I will post some pics as it gets closer. thanks George.

Look forward to seeing it. Keep up the great work and don't worry about the keyboard warriors. I haven't met anyone in person who didn't love mine.
