Hopefully, this is the right section to post my questions, as I am starting to restore my 72 Demon, back to original as possible. I have the trim tag, as well as the build sheet. First question, can someone please tell me exactly which air cleaner would come on this 340 4-speed car, second question which carburetor am I looking for and which casting numbers do I use to find exhaust manifolds? Here is a brief history of my project: I have been after this car for 5 years, finally got the owner to sell it to me, and got the parts car to go with it, because I needed the interior, and that is where I found the build sheet. I was able to score the original numbers matching engine and know that the transmission is in Alta. Thanks in advance, and here are some pictures of my big project.

Congradulations on finaly getting the car & good luck with the build.
You said you were going back original, I hope that you put a set of Magnum 500's on it. My first & only Demon was blue w/ 500's on it. It was a very sharp car. I only wish I still had it now.
Whats with the avatar?

That is an original picture of my 1972 Demon that I bought brand new and had for only 8 months. One to many trips to a northern Montana dirt road. I still have the original right hand mirror for it!!!

second question which carburetor am I looking for?
#6138 1972 340 4 spd 800 cfm carb

and which casting numbers do I use to find exhaust manifolds?:
passenger side exhaust manifold will be part# 3418624
drivers side exhaust manifold will be part # 3614367

so you found the build sheet for your demon in a parts car? is that what you are saying? if so that is pretty lucky to say the least. looks like you need white interior for the demon according to the sheet.
i would put that build sheet into a plastic sleeve a.s.a.p. before it gets torn or ruined.

Here is a pic of the carb your gonna need...like 7DEMON2 said 6138 800 CFM...Good luck with the project and keep us posted:cheers:

yes, that was why the parts car was so important, it also has original drivers door for demon, and all the interoir, can you tell me if it is a tuff wheel with that interoir, thanks alot!!

Welcome to FABO from a Sask member on the other side of the province.
Congratulations on scoring your Demon finally:cheers:. It took me 18 years to get the owner of my #'s matching 1971 Duster 340 to sell.
I've got a 1972 340 4 speed Demon also but no fender tag or broadcast sheet:angry7: The '72's are my favorite Demons:snakeman:

I'll check to see if I have the exhaust manifolds you are looking for, i'm pretty sure I do.

i'll get back to you on the tuff wheel info, that is if someone else dosen't beat me to it first!

never mind it didn't take as long as i thought it would to find. you would have had the standard black 3 spoke steering wheel for it. i can post a pic if needed.

I would be very interested in those exhaust manifolds if they are correct. Thanks Darryl

Where do you find these numbers as (mymopar) lists different numbers? Are these called 340 HP manifolds? I think you might be correct.!!!

Very cool project. I am jealous. That color on a 72 is at the top of my list.
Post a bigger pic of your avatar for us and tell us more about your original car. It looks a bit, squished. Been there, done that.

i got the info from galens white books and the parts interchange book. i could also look it up elsewhere if needed...also sometimes they list the casting numbers instead of the part number.

I have the manifolds and a carb that looks like that but I will have to check the numbers. The manifolds were posted here in the spring time. Pm if you are interested I will get pic's. I work late today, probably won't get back to you until tomorrow.

Welcome and good luck with your resto. It is not to hard to tell where my heart lies when it comes to Demons. You have done very well to find the exact engine and to know where the tranny is.

Jack

looks like a sweet car. i would also like to hear more about the other demon you had with the gimpie roof! i can help with the steering wheel if you need a good one. i have a couple.

These are the manifold's I have pm me if it's what you need. I have a carb but i'm not sure what numbers you need. I will get a picture. Just let me know where the numbers are on the carb that you want to see.

Wow just found this post and I think your Demon has a lot of potential. I am restoring almost the identical car except mine has white side stripes. Here is a quick crazy note for you. My car and my brother in laws car are consecutive numbered B-3 blue 340 Demons (bought 20 years apart). His is a 4 speed and mine is an automatic.
