1972 Dodge Demon. Here's what I started with: I bought this car 2 years ago as a 1 owner grocery getter with a slant 6, automatic trans, and a 7 ¼ rear. It was very clean and straight with a tired interior and rust only in the lower quarters. The car was purchased new in Port Huron, MI, in 1971, and went to Florida with its owner shortly afterwards. The owner later moved to Kentucky, which is where I bought it from her. It had 189,000 miles on the clock, and a file full of receipts for every repair item that was ever done. It is the correct color of B3 blue. The original owner had it repainted once, and it was a nice quality paint job in base/clear.

After I bought the car, I pulled the 225 out, along with the interior. I put in new door panels, door handles, headliner, kick panels, A-pillar mouldings, package tray, sail panels, repop Tuff wheel, new seat covers, and window cranks. On the outside, I painted the engine compartment, and put patch panels in the quarters. We blended the paint in, and went around the back with a repaint on the tail panel as well. The guy that did this for me did an excellent job and you cannot tell this work has been done - the paint matches perfectly!

Next I added matte black stripes and the 340 logo to the tail. Finally, I added a re-pop dual snorkel hood scoop ( not a real high quality piece) and the blackout treatment. The hood was done recently, and some of the car pictures don't have it. I did not cut holes in the hood. The wheels are new 15 inch Cragars in the small bolt pattern. I think the back are 8” and the front are 7” wide. The tires have great tread on them.

Next I found an LA 360 and had it built by a local engine builder who is very good. It is bored 30 over, and the compression is around 9.5-10:1. It has a fairly aggressive cam with a nice lope to it (I have the card somewhere), the heads are stock, but the intake valves have been opened up to 2.02”. The engine has an RPM Airgap intake, Edelbrock 750 with electric choke, electronic ignition, Hedman Hedders, and flowmasters. I recently installed a new gas tank and 3/8” fuel line the length of the car. The exhaust system is H-piped and has correct repop chrome tips. The engine is mated to a 904 transmission which was rebuilt at the same time the engine was built. I have also added an 8 ¾ sure grip – it's an A body unit with a 741 carrier. Power steering, manual brakes. I have put about 3000 miles on this car since I completed it, including a trip to the Mopar Nats and back! You can drive it anywhere – it runs very strong, drives good, and sounds great! This car gets compliments every where I go. It runs 8.75 on the 1/8 mile and high 13s on the quarter.

The bad? There's not much bad to this car. It is clean and straight. The trunk is nice and clean, and has never been repainted, but the bottom of the spare tire well is showing some rust. There is 1 crack in the dash. It has a few small oil and trans fluid drips, and if I keep it, I would like to freshen up the front suspension. I love driving it, but now I'm Jonesing for a 71-72 Charger, and I have to sell this one to make room.

In summary, this is a nice car that you can cruise and show. I only entered it in one show and won 3rd place in the A-body modified class at the 2007 Music City Mopar Club show. If you want a nice clean Demon that you can jump in and drive, show, and drag, this is it! Please email me with questions, or let me know if you want pictures of anything specific. [email protected]

Will consider trades up, down, or even on a 71-72 Charger or Satellite. Project cars up to complete cars considered...must have straight body and very little rust.
