'72 Duster Hood to Radiator Support Seal Installation

Hi All,
I just installed this seal, and I want to make sure I have it installed correctly. It seems like the seal has to roll back under the hood? Would someone please post a couple of pics of theirs so I can make sure I have installed it properly? One from the front facing the engine bay and then one from either side so I can see how the seal has to roll back? Thanks for your help!

I think I may have it installed backwards, there is a post for a '75 that has the "L" facing forwards, just looking to confirm it is the same on a '72...
 
post your pictures please... also what purpose does the seal serve?
