OK, I had to lower the steering column in order to remove/install the instrument cluster. When I went to position the column and install the retaining bolts under the dash I noted the shaft and moved (slid down) and now the lower column cover is hitting the ignition key removal lever. How is this possible?

Please advise!!

slotted bolt holes allow for movement. If its a column shift automatic you may have lost the neutral safety adjustment too. It helps to shift to neutral before lowering the column.
Anyway... you should be able to loosen those bolts and move the sections a little.

OK, now that the meds have slowed down from the surgery on the neck and I can think clear, problem solved once I just lossened the 3 slotted bolts and pull back on the wheel (hard). All is well in the East Valley!!

Thanks
