I'm rebuilding my 73 Duster. I purchased a pair of used OEM 72 Valiant fenders in excellent shape. I was told that they will only fit 72 A body. To my surprise, they fit on the 73, bolt hole for bolt hole, except for where the 73 grill mounts on the upper flange. A mounting fitting needs to be added. The only difference I can see is there's a metal tap above the head light, this is where the 72 grill would mount. Not necessary on the 73. The other is the lower headlight bezel mounting stud, the lower mount is too high not allowing the bezel to fasten into the stud. Seems like a small mod. The other is where the ground stud is, a hole needs to be added on the left fender to allow clearance for the stud.
I was always told that the 72 fenders were an only that year fit. For 73 - 74 A bodies you need that year. Anyone have any input on this before I invest too much time?
