I have a fresh rebuilt transmission on my bench and I put an A&A valve body and low reverse servo. Took tail-shaft off to get to low reverse band lever pin out, everything worked out fine but I can’t get the band strut back in. Are there any secrets to reinstalling?
    Thanks!!

Did you back off the adjuster?

      Yes adjuster is totally out.
Are they supposed to just slide in or do you have to force it.

U have to push on the band with a screwdriver. Lay it in there and use another screwdriver to flip it in. Kim

Did you change the band? I only ask because they made solid bands with a couple different length lugs. The thicker lugs won't allow a strut used with the thinner lugs.

I wish I knew this about the bands. I was about to lose my mind trying to diagnose the issues on my freshly rebuilt 727. The band was adjusted properly by the builder. But started slipping in reverse after a few hundred miles. I attempted to adjust it, but I ran out of threads on the adjuster! I just didn't understand how or why...

Yes, the trans has been rebuilt and never installed. It was fine before I changed the servo. I’m sure something is just not lined up?

        Did you flip the anchor?

I’m sure the anchor is in right as you can see wear mark for the adjuster bolt. Is the band strut supposed to slide in easy or does it have to be forced in?
I’m going to work on it tomorrow, I’ll let you know. Thanks

Not that; the long double strap that goes way up into the case. You have to push the band up in there to fit the strut in...BEFORE the drum goes in.

Ok I know what you’re talking about. I didn’t take that out I left the pin in the case just enough in the strap to keep it from falling apart.
John Cope has video on you tube about changing the servo but it is tough to see how he got the and strut in.
