where can i find a decoder to find out what a 727 came out of and the numbers on the left rail,my boss sold me a 727 said to be from a hemi, took it to the tranny shop to get rebuilt,he said nothing was special inside,no 5 clutches,so need info or numbers to decode the numbers on the rail

Here's a link to a chart. It doesn't have everything in it but most and it's all I know of. As for your trans. not having the parts a Hemi trans. does, it's always possible that sometime in it's lifetime someone robbed the Hemi specific stuff for another trans. With 40+ yr old stuff anything's possible.

Hello - I realize this thread is a little old, but I am having a difficult time identifying my 727 Transmission. The identification on the transmission is PK 28920381 2876 3010. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Should be 7 digits long. I read it as 2892031
my decoder says ; 68 383 4bbl, A,B,or C bodies. Go figure
If it really is 8 digits, my decoder is worthless; at least as to your case.

Please check those numbers again real close. As A/J said the PK # normally only has 7 digits. I have seen a handful that did have 8 digits and you ignore the last one. In your case that'd make it a PK 2892038 which isn't listed in either list I have. I also tried every combination I could think of (2892038, 2892033, 2892088, 2892083) and the only one that comes up is the one A/J mentioned which is 2892031. I also have another chart other than the one above and it doesn't have your # either
